You can take beautiful underwater photos right now. You don't even need a scuba license. Aquarium photography can produce brilliant images. You just need to employ a few simple techniques. One of the main concerns with shooting your swimming subjects is the lack of light in most aquariums.
You can start to solve this problem by increasing the ISO on your digital camera - just one advantage to using a Digital SLR. For this image, I had to max out the ISO to compensate for the extremely dim lighting. I mounted my camera on a tripod for stability, and used a fast shutter speed to stop the elegant motion of the jellyfish and avoid blurring.
One more tip for aquarium shooting: it's helpful to use a rubber lens hood. This will allow you to press your lens up against the glass surface to avoid refections.

You have a great shot there very soothing to look at and thanks for sharing your simple techniques. I'm pretty sure to use those tips the next time I took pictures under water.
