Panning the Spinning

Have you ever tried panning the action when photographing your children at play. This can be so fun as long as you have a willing subject.

Be forwarned: You have to take many pictures to get one good keeper. Them be the knocks when panning - 20 or more pictures to get one winner. Good thing we're not shooting film.

If your child likes to be swung around in a circle, you can have a lot of fun trying this technique. Stand behind your spouse, hang over his/her shoulders, and spin along as they spins your child. Use a slow shutter speed and you may get some super fun panning images. Just be careful and hold on tight as you play!
