Education has been a huge theme in my life for the last month or so. First, it was my husband starting his first day as a high school teacher. He teaches freshmen and seniors, and he loves it and they love him – but man, is he ever tired when get gets home! And yet, he always seems to find the time to enjoy his hobby – photography.
Then, of course, we had the First Annual BetterPhoto Summit, which was a blast. It was fantastic to meet so many BetterPhoto members! What was even more fun, though, was seeing everyone's eyes widen or heads nod as our instructors gave them fantastic insights, tips, tricks. I could practically see the wheels turning in everyone's heads, and the lightbulbs going off – both in the sessions and as they chatted informally with the instructors. It was so cool to see and be a part of.

And now we're preparing for our autumn courses (which start October 5). We have over 50 courses with so many incredible instructors – including Michael Frye, who's new to our roster this quarter. He's teaching a course called "The Digital Landscape" and it looks to be excellent. Kathleen Carr's "Polaroid Image and Emulsion Transfer" course still has a few seats available, and Vik Orenstein's "Photographing Children" still has some spots left. There are so many to choose from, on so many interesting subjects! It's not too late to sign up – courses start October 5, so check out the selection and see what catches your fancy!
